First revealed at the 2010 Spike Video Game Awards under the working title SSX: Deadly Descents, the game's teaser trailer appeared to show a much darker direction to the series than previous entries, which the developers now claim to have been misrepresentative of the actual game. Although it will include the use of real locations and introduce many new gameplay mechanics, SSX will still feature the bright colors and 'over-the-top arcadey gameplay' the previous titles were known for. On June 29, 2011, Sony and Nintendo both confirmed that they are testing the game for their new portable consoles.
